Our certified pilot vehicles escort oversize loads to their destination smoothly, keeping your cargo, your driver and other road users protected the whole way.
Piloting is where RMJ started. Ryan began piloting with his own ute, and today we provide pilots for our own loads and for other transport operators on contract.

FAQs
A load pilot is a certified driver in a marked pilot vehicle who escorts an over-dimension load on the road, warning other traffic and keeping the load, its driver and the public safe. In New Zealand, NZTA rules set when a load needs pilots and which class of pilot is required.
Class 1 and Class 2 are the two New Zealand load pilot certifications, and the class required depends on the size of the load and the route. Class 2 pilots are certified for larger over-dimension loads. RMJ Transport has both Class 1 and Class 2 pilots, so we can cover whatever your load needs.
Yes. We’re based in North Canterbury but pilot loads throughout the South Island and travel anywhere in New Zealand.
We pilot houses and portable buildings, large machinery, containers, swimming pools, steel and large vehicles, as well as escorting other transport operators’ over-dimension loads on contract.
Yes. We can lift and cart a load with our own trucks and supply the pilot vehicle as well, so you deal with one company for the whole move.
